primark do a brilliant range of stockings in the larger stores. all for around ?2 for 2 pairs. yeah, they dont last long, but if they are going to ladder them anyway its better to pay ?2 than ?20 x

They have some nice ones but don't last longer than a 1 hour booking x

Good idea 8). Also, if you ever run out you can buy the clips from haberdashery shops

I'm all about the seams  :)

I've never had this problem - where are you getting your suspender belts from? You want one with at least 6 straps to hold stockings up and expect to pay 30 quid.

The trick to getting hold-ups to stay up is making sure your legs are moisturised. I used to assume the opposite was true, but no!

Also, only hand wash them in something like woolite (or just hand soap and I sprinkle some tea tree oil to kill germs and stuff too).  Don't use fabric softener because it'll ruin the 'stick' of the silicone.

I live in hold-ups  :D

The hairspray tip is incredible.  8)

This is random but I always chuckle to myself because to get my seams straight I do it bent over looking at the back of my legs facing say from a mirror. Feels silly but it works! Xx

Try attaching the stockings to the suspender belt beforehand, then put them on like you would a pair of trousers... :)

This thread has not only been  amusing but an education as well.  I have just bought some m&s hold ups. They are really soft against my skin. As an aside, it's good know  to that other ladies take public transport to and from bookings.

Yep, this was me at the weekend. Stockings and suspenders. As I'm 5' 1" I find the suspender 'straps' generally too long. Even on the shortest setting they are too long.

I need some hold-ups - I actually use them as hold-ups and as 'stockings' too - I absolutely ABHOR stockings - I cannot stand the putting on of them - it gets me well riled up trying to attach the ****ing clips to the stocking tops, rrrrr, puts me in a proper bad mood!!!! And the whole them the stockings and the belt are sliding further and further down!

Hello Angel,

I've just bought a Van Doren 6 strap suspender belt from lovehoney and stockings from 'Bodystocking Avenue'.  It's a bit too small as I'm a bit too large (2 sizes larger than the largest one they sell), BUT........it's quite comfortable and not falling down around the place!  Short straps to the front, longer ones to the side and as one lady on this thread already pointed out, metal clips are very good.  Also, the rear straps aren't over my arse, which renders the bloody sb unusable.  This has metal clips, was a hundred times easier to do up.  I still ruined the new stockings with my rough feet, but hopefully I think I've found a good foot fetishist to sort out that annoying problem for me!

It may cost a bit more but it's worth every bloody penny!!

I bet you'd find this much easier to use and should remove the need for pre-preparing!!

I grabbed some Superdrug hold ups the other day and they were great! And cheap too! I tend to use Primark but for some reason my local store has stopped stocking the black ones. I have tried so many hold ups and suspenders over teh years and however much I pay for them I still manage to ladder them so I tend to stick with cheaper ones!

For bigger girls larger vintage style suspender belts work better- I think Van Doren have been mentioned- they are great and also the fact they are deep covers up any podgy tummy is a bonus!

For those who have trouble I think practise is the answer- I used to have trouble clipping the back ones, but now I can do with my eyes closed! Oh and yes metal suspender clips are way easier!

I used to buy M & S stockings in bulk, but I bought three new pairs last week and they've all laddered already just from wearing during incalls. What the heck?

I find primark ones quite good, from there "more expensive range" and a tall BBW they tend to have very think garter bands   ;D
