Ooooh I don't know. There are lots to think about with one of these. They can actually burn your skin good & proper!!!

I had a nosey at one but thought the better of it & got a new roller cartridge system instead.

I had IPL done at a salon.  However the machine kept breaking down and was really costly to repair.  So after the umpteenth time the saloon didn't bother - it wasn't cost effective.  The bulbs (or lights whatever) were really expensive and the ice pack part stopped working as well.  We ended up using freezer ice packs which increased the chance of getting burned.  I got a full refund on my treatment and had waxing/electrolysis instead.

So look into the cost of the replacement parts - not just the machine itself.  IPL tends to work best on light skin with dark hair.

I have to admit (with absolutely no smugness0 to being a bit of an expert on hair removal. As some of the people here may know I am a transsexual woman so have been a victim of almost all the methods of hair removal that there are.
Firstly there are no effective home  machines and if it doesn't hurt, a lot, it isn't working. IPL or Intense Pulsed light is ineffective even with the very expensive clinic machines.  In other words a painful waste of money. Laser such as the LightSheer method is very effective on dark hair against light skin. Be warned it bloody hurts and depending on the amount of hair and the part of the body can make a bit of a mess which takes somewhere around five days to heal up. This is from experience. I go to a place in Birmingham called ReNu as they are very experiences and well trained. Anyone using on of these machines who isn't very good at it will either use the power on a base setting (not very effective) or too much power and it will damage your skin permanently. As I am having my face done I wanted to be safe and not sorry.
Unfortunately a lot of the hair on my face is very light so I'm having to have electrolysis every two to three weeks. I hate it as it is the most painful thing I have ever had done to me and it stops me working for about 5 days as this is the time it takes for my skin to recover.
All of the effective methods use very expensive hardware and need to be operated by pretty skilled people which is why the home stuff which you see for sale just doesn't work. I have heard the odd person say they have successfully treated one or two hairs over a long period of time but I'm very dubious.
The upshot is I'd put the money towards a course of treatment at a reputable clinic IMHO.
