Stopping work early because it's quiet.
« on: 04 April 2012, 09:15:51 pm »
Grrr. Have done it again. Left work early because it was quiet. After driving 40 minutes home my phone starts to ring. I could cry lol.

Had I stayed till the time I had originally planned I would have got at least another one or 2.

Had it been busy earlier I would have got that one or 2 because I would not have left.

Perhaps the stopping early when quiet is a silly idea.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Oh no! This happens to me loads too. It?s sods law...I always try to convince the guys who call too late or when I?ve just left to book a meeting for the next day. Some do and a lot just say ?I?ll call you tomorrow? and maybe because by then they?ve lost their...ermmm..let?s say ?urge?....they don?t. But I agree it is VERY frustrating! :FF

Always happens to me.WTF,sods law indeed.

Always when I have put work phone on silent, planned a quiet night in,check fone few hours later and missed work.

On the other hand we have got to switch off sometimes x

Don't let it annoy you, for all you know they could have both been TW  ;) I'm away this week and purposefully left my work phone at home otherwise I'd be sat here cursing all the missed calls!

The funny thing is I had a half hour booked in at 930. It was 8pm and had just finished a customer so was ready to wait for the 930.

The 930 texted me at 8pm and cancelled. Decent of him to let me know. I decided that was my cue to go early. Ironically if he had been a wanker and not let me know he would have done me a favour because I would still have been at the flat at the times the guy wanted to come.

Another guy booked a really late one last week which I hung around for and was a no show but I got someone else and if it hadn't been for that pillock I would have been long gone.

I find the key is to just have a cut off point, and don't worry about it. Who's to say those later bookings wouldn't have cancelled at the last minute? Then you'd have been kicking yourself for hanging around for nothing.

Its not the clients or the stuff i do with them, its the waiting and being skint that gets to me, I end up having to drink a redbull and try and focus on a movie or 2 to keep me focused when its been too quiet and i need work. I will see someone at 10.pm if i have to then some days i cant be bloody bothered and wipe my make up off , soak in the bath tub, switch the phone off and myself  from it all!!!

Yep its sods law.

There is just no winning, no matter what you do.

We just got to take it on the chin and imagine they may have been no shows and content ourselves with that.

It's the same just now. My cut off today is 9 but it's quiet and I want to leave now. Don't want to go home and miss any and don't want to sit here if I get none lol.

9pm Jeezo, I think i'm hard done to if I have to work till 7pm - thats late for me.  I know exactly what you mean tho and agree with Paris, I just decide when I'm going to finish and thats it - got to be honest I usually finish an hour or so before i say i will especially if things go quieter.
