Guys who can’t follow directions!
« on: 27 October 2020, 05:34:40 pm »
Where I am currently I have to give extremely precise directions to clients.

The amount of times guys have got lost in spite of this, whether I explain by text or call it seems to make no difference to some guys.

They just seem to go their own merry way thinking somehow they know better how to get to me than I do. A couple of them I’ve even had to cancel because they got so pissy with me or I got pissy with them having to explain the way zillions of times.

Grrrrrr

Since a two minute walk took 10 minutes to explain I nip them in the bud now. They irritate me so much I repeat twice only then switch off the phone and cup of tea. And there's always something wrong with em brain-wise if you let them in.

I had one guy who was trying to find my place calling me saying he thinks hes close but can't find me. I looked at my window and could see him walking everywhere but my place. In the end I decided to open my door but he still didn't see me. I literally had to tell him to stand still then turn left and finally he saw me.

He turned out to be a lovely guy just crap at directions. It did make me chuckle though when i look back.

Today - called ten times even though profile says no calls
I finally text him: “no calls please”
Him: I don’t understand

If they can’t find my place after me giving specific directions twice I just block them I get too annoyed before they’ve arrived to even let them in at that point cos I just think they must be brain dead

Since taking deposits I now use an SMS text for directions, which to date has gotten everyone to the door.

Prior to this I had a very difficult time, even when using a sight point I'd point out the door which was different size, colour, had number clearly displayed, caller could even see me at a window yet quite a few still knocked on a different door or would talk loudly into their phone outside mine and other properties loud enough to be heard from indoors.

Don't even get me started on this. I make punters park in a pay and display as it's all allocated parking where I live. It's literally 2 minutes walk and I give very clear directions and yet the amount of times, 5 minutes later and they still haven't arrived and I have to ask them where the hell they are. That's assuming they find the actual car park in the first place of course. Again I give very clear directions yet I get "Oh I'm here at this car park" and my response is always, well why are you there when my directions sent you to the correct car park.

Honestly I sometimes get so pissed off I feel like saying, get in your car and go home because you're far too stoopid to entertain. Like these men shouldn't be allowed out by themselves or without a bloody carer!

I blocked one today for being the first person in sixteen months to be unable to find my building despite being pretty much across the road from it.

He had the street and postcode in the morning plus details of two landmarks which I'm smack inbetween (which narrows it down to a roughly twenty metre stretch of road in a small and largely non-residential street) and was given the building number, further directions and a description of the exterior when he called. In addition the building, like many in the area, has a prominent and obvious plaque on the outside with the address on it  :FF.

He hung up on me twice even though I asked him to stay on the phone, and eventually started trying again roughly fifteen minutes later by which time there was eleven minutes of his booking left. If he'd got as far as finding out my flat number I'd have let him in and taken his money for that, too. He originally turned up over ten minutes early and seemed surprised that I wasn't ready, even though he chose the time when he booked ::).

Fingers crossed that's it for another sixteen months  ;D

Did you actually know he was there Amy? Not sure if you can see clients from your window or not. I have had a couple act like that in the past and they were not even in the place just having me on. It's so annoying though when you expect them and it's a mission speaking to them keep saying same thing and all for no money.

I've actually seen him before, but it was at a hotel a couple of years ago - I've no reason to think he wasn't there and he made pretty heavy weather of trying to find the place. Although he did ask for the nearest station when it's on the top line of my AW profile which made me  ::) a bit (and nobody gets the flat number until I can see them clearly on my video entry whether they're in the street or not).

I sacked it and went to Sainsbury's instead :)

While this sounds sexist I try to give them “ men landmarks “😂 so petrol station, pubs   garage  car park wherever possible
My friend had an apartment that was above a nail shop & beauticians salons punters could never find it
When I told her to change the landmark to the pub which was opposite the nail salon they all managed to find it 🙄

I need anger management because I get so frustrated and upset when they are so stupid. Am not as bad as l used to be but it still affects me.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.
