Genuine client - TW have made me too suspicious
« on: 16 December 2015, 04:18:14 pm »
Hi ladies,

Well, I feel I need to write this as I've been completely bowled over!!

I waffled on another post about a guy who cancelled twice; the second cancellation was due to him flying out to Japan the next day (he's a stockbroker). I thought he was an absolute timewaster and an arsehole as I figured the story was too far fetched. I told him I wouldn't be accepting any further bookings from him as he had wasted my time.

He literally begged me to reconsider, which I declined. Then, he said do you have paypal and I will pay you the 2 hours I've cancelled to show you I'm genuine. I said I did and expected to hear nothing from him (you only give email address). Well fuck me sideways, he's only paid 300 into my account today!!!! I've transferred it into my bank account already and it's showing immediately.

My point is this - I think my patience level with guys has dramatically dropped due to the amount of TW that contact me and it's pretty frustrating that these idiots make us more suspicious of guys that are perhaps genuine.

What do you reckon - any of you experienced similar and lost a potentially good client because your patience has dropped?  :-*

I've obviously now accepted a booking for next week, but I feel such a cow  :(

I've had similar situations happen by jumping to a conclusion based on the wording of an email. I seriously need to chill. >.>

Same thing happens with me sometimes.

I find that ALMOST every time a guy phones looking for a specific time that I'm unable to fulfil so they take another time and honestly 90+% of the time they either cancel last minute or don't show.

So last week I had a client book me for let's say 4.30pm which worked for me but then he texts me asking if I can make it 3pm which didn't suit me so I actually just over reacted and cancelled his booking altogether.

He might fine well have been genuine and came at 4.30 but because of the amount of timewasters, it makes us think everyone is the same.

So point I'm making is....it's not ideal that you, me or any one of us treat the genuine ones like that sometimes but it's the undesirables that spoil it for everyone.

The only other option you have is to have a little more faith in people but that usually results in us being let down.

To be fair to you, if this was a new client and he let you down twice then I wouldn't have given him a third chance either. If a new client cancels me once then I keep it noted nevermind twice.

Thanks Kendra - I'm with ya  :-*  it's the nature of the beast I think; so many TW do tarnish it for the less than 1% of genuine guys that have to cancel for a variety of reasons x

TW's definitely spoil things for genuine guys. At the very least, they've robbed us of a bit of our sparkle so there's a little less to give in bookings. And why do you think some girls double-book?

I have yet to literally double-book. That is, I have never put a guy in a situation of showing up to no answer on the phone because I've double-booked.  What I have done, however, is to stagger confirmation and arrival times and then cancelled/rescheduled the other guy. I have also started just agreeing to every advanced booking on tour. I don't even write that shit down, I just say "Friday morning? Sure! Just text me on Thursday night to confirm." I believe it has happened only once that two advanced bookings actually confirmed for the same time. I just apologised, grovelled, and offered a small discount to move one of them. But one thing I will never do is turn away a potential booking because someone else has called when maybe 1 out of 3 advance bookings on tour ever come to fruition.

I saw a regular today who has, in one swoop, sorted my xmas out for me so I think if you cultivate them, you get rewards. I was euphoric and I hope I spelt that right x

I've just had another look at the thread overall and maybe my comment was slightly random but...it was trying to show there are decent guys out there haha so it wasn't completely random.

We know there are good guys out there, my entire regular clientele are the nicest people ever and I'm to glad to have them as my clients but generally speaking when we moan and groan on here.....we are moaning about the not so good clients and the silly stunts they pull.

You'll never see me on here speak badly of a good client and a good man.

PayPal can be charged back and reclaimed for many months in the future, AND can get your account closed if they suspect its being used for adult transactions. The sender can also get your personal details too, apparantly. So I wouldn't go counting your chickens just yet. I think he probably is still a TW and/or boundary pusher. You will be very lucky to find that he is just either naive or needy.

I hate to say this but, years ago, a client paid me a similar sum by Paypal, I was new to the business then and didn't know about chargebacks, which is what he did a few days later.

Never ever ever accept Paypal, too much can go wrong.  Hopefully he is genuine, but I would not risk it again personally.

I think they're guys out there who do use this scam, they cancel then beg profusely to rebook offering to show their good intent by paying the whole fee into a paypal account. All this for a WG he's never met?
I would never accept paypal its the same as credit cards with a risk of chargeback weeks if not months down the line.
The fact it was the punter asked the OP if she had paypal would ring alarm bells with me.
He could have done this before.
So what happens now OP? You have his fee in your bank but you don't know if hes going to do a chargeback weeks down the line after hes had his session so how does that work?

I agree with the others about not using paypal for this type of business and the sender can claim the money back up to 3 months after if goods haven't been received or services not completed.

But at the end of the day if he does turn up for his appointment next week, Lois gets the money off him first, does the service then he goes. If he does choose to not turn up and claim his money back via paypal, nothing is lost apart from time wasted, if you know what I mean? He wouldn't have had a free service, just inconvenience on both sides.
