Do you find this strange .?
« on: 12 November 2017, 10:51:35 am »
I get calls from same number from an identified well spoken  British man firstly called months ago calling himself Bll.
Then calls  yesterday  same number saved as Bill in my work phone saying he's Raj  but I asked him If he had called before he said no .
How odd , I guess they can call themselves whatever they like .
Can also change their ethnicity on the phone too !,
Has anyone else had this ,just curious as  most guys just use their one time name usually .

I don't think it's strange - if he's called before but you haven't actually seen him he might well have forgotten all about it including whatever punting name he was using at the time. I can't see how any of it has anything to do with either his ethnicity or him being well spoken and British?

I have a regular I've known for years who has always called and booked as 'Paul' despite turning up at least half the time with his work shirt that has 'Steve' embroidered on the front of it. Of course this has never been mentioned by anybody ;D.

Not that unusual.I have a regular client who I always thought was called Nigel anyway he booked a duo and when the other lass opened the door she said 'Hiya Ian' which made me smile because when he sees her that's what he calls himself!

It's not unusual for men of Indian descent in particular to sometimes use a Western nickname or pseudonym.

Yes that seems fairly common but I also see a fair few White British guys have aliases, probably for similar reasons we do,trouble is they sometimes slip up and forget which name they have given you or refer to themselves by their actual name in the booking. The funniest ones are the guys who leave a voicemail saying 'Hi this is Bob,can you call me back?' When you do it goes through their voicemail and their greeting is 'Hi you are through to Terry Smith at Dopey Builders..' ::) :D

I had a call from a man the other day asking for a booking. I had not seen him for over a year and he was in my phone as Robert.  I said hi is that Robert and he hesitated as it was so obvious he had forgotten what he was called last year.  He stuttered yes so what he was going to call himself I have no idea. It was and is no problem as long as they turn up and pay and all is as it should be in the booking.

Love this.
I have had a couple of these name badgers introducing themselves by punting name. Every time i have a big grin on my face throughout the booking, i find it oddly cute and amusing.

What makes me laugh is when I say "What's your name darling?" and they go "Uh.... John".

Then when they ring from outside I pick up the phone and say "Hi John, are you parked?" and they go "What?! Oh... Yeah... It's John..."

Some men would say anything.  They heard your questions, but they can be very evasive, likely chronically evasive...meaning "I could call me whatever I like, mind your business, none of your ** my ethnicity changes daily "  I'm a little like that in my personal life,  "just leave me in peace, no question, please".
