spy holes
« on: 24 August 2018, 07:30:14 pm »
I always try to make sure that a hotel has a spy hole but I am 5 foot and the spy holes twice recently have been fitted for 5 foot plus people do the men that do this not realise that tall people can crouch down to look through a spy hoe a short person cannot grow to look through one that has been positioned too high.

Apart from walking around with a set of step does anyone have a suggestion to deal with this issue

In high heels I am a good 5 inches taller than the real me. Do you not wear high shoes for bookings?

If you don't mind an accessible room they always have the spy hole lower for obvious reasons. Although that may not really be ideal!

I do wear heels for booking they make me 5foot 4inches and the spy hole yesterday was a good 3 inches above my head even when wearing them obviously put in the door by a man around 6 foot tall

Maybe a option if I am in certain rooms but I then worry that someone wh needs an assistance room isn't able to book one

I'm 5ft too. I have resorted to standing tippytoes on a Gideon bible out of desperation. It's not an ideal solution.

Or pile the pillows on the floor behind the door to give you more height?

Yes good point. I've been put in accessible rooms before when that's all they had available so I guess at the time it wasn't an issue but you're right.

I am now seeing if a folding stool will fit in my case its around the size of a laptop so may be ok

I doubt that would even be enough height but it did make me smile

I'm 5ft 5 and I either have to stand on my tiptoes or lean down slightly as its slightly too low in heels but too high without heels. So I really feel for anyone shorter than me.

Use a chair.  It will also be great to break the ice when explaining this to the client.  I tend to laugh all the time and most surely I would be telling this story to a prospective client
