Quit or not to quit..
« on: 10 August 2011, 08:54:48 pm »
Hello Ladies.

I am interested what your opinion is in following matter..

I am falling in to this spiral of contradicted decisions just dot know what to do with myself.

I`ve been staying with the agency for a short while, without bigger success, and recently following all wise advices on saafe forum, I have decided to go indie. My website is done, and any moment will be up..
The thing is that I am full time working, at the office,  9-5 job, doing a job that I don?t enjoy, but which well, yes, pays my bills..
It`s been extremely difficult to manage both things at the same time. After I leave my office I am knackered, and have not too much enthusiasm for any appointments. Therefore not too much success in this so far..

I`m also trying to set up my own business, but once again.. Having a full time job I am not able to fully devote my time to this as well. I want to quit, doing the escorting full time, and having much more time for my other business.. However there is the fear of unknown ? what if I will not be able to support myself? It the escorting won`t be as beneficial as I hope? I am reading all your posts that there is not too much jobs lately..

The same time ? if I stay at my office job, I am not going to be able to fully commit to escorting and to my own business.. This is the vicious spiral for me ? what should I do?
 ???

I use to work full time in an office  and would come back home exhausted. I was also doing tantric massage on the side. I was never able to book more than 2 appointents a week (usually in the weekends) due to lack of time and energy. So I had my full time job salary plus a little extra $$$ on the side. Not too bad...But Finally one day I  decided I had had enough with my boss. So I asked him if I could work part-time as I was going to start taking free-lance work. Before I quit my day job I wanted to see I would be able to make a living doing massage. So I started working 3 days at the office and 3 days doing massage (as indie).  When I realized I could actually make a much better living doing massage I quitted my office job entirely. I wouldn't reccomend quitting your job entirely (specially in our current recession times) if you're not sure how things are going to work out. Ask for some time off due to personal/family reasons (one of your family members got sick and you need to take care of him/her). Make it seem as something provisional". Once you see things start happening quit entirely. just remember that if you do this you're going to have a gap in your resume and if you ever want to re-enter the civie workplace you'll have to have a good story!

best luck!

Hi Monika.

I can understand how a full day's day job will zap your energy.
There are plus sides though.
You have that set monthly income which will take financial pressure off you while you establish yourself both as as an indy and while you grow your other business.
If you are like me, you will find that an escort booking will spark energy and life into you.
after all it's big money for a brief liaison.
And as an indy, You decide when you work, which after all is much nicer
than most jobs.   ;D
Setting up your own business as well.... That's great.
It also really depends upon how the escorting impacts on this and to what degree.
It's a balancing act certainly.

Why not give yourself a three month window.
At the end of this time, weigh up how you feel about things; you will then know exactly what is right for you.
The other thing is that once you have sucked a willy for coin, you are never really ever out of work again,
So if you stop escorting, you can always pick it back up if and when you feel it is right for you.

Whatever you decide, you have control over your destiny, to a bigger degree than most people.
And that is always a good thing.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

River. x

Jodie and Ana,

Thank you for sharing with me your thoughts..
I have to say that I feel a bit better, knowing that YOU DO understand how exhausting full time office job can be..

I think that having trying to do all three things in once , the office job, my business and the escorting, I am doing all three things not as good as I could have done, being focused on one or at least two things only..

setting up and acquiring a client base as an indie escort takes several months from what I've seen and heard.

I would stay at your current job and do escorting on the side.   This means that you have enough ? coming in to not worry about making rent etc. and take bookings that you normally wouldn't.  You can work your day job and take 1-2 bookings a week to build up a cash buffer.  Once you've established yourself enough to survive on your escorting work, then quit your job and start working on escorting + your own business.

You may need to work both through the agency and indie for the first few months.   I'm still establishing myself so couldn't live on indie work alone, or agency work alone, but both together gets me through ok :)

When I stared I worked my day job and agency - and yes, it was exhausting!!   Then I quit my day job and worked agency for a month before setting up on my own.
