Craigslist's Adult Services is now defunct in the US

So, they went from charging $5 to $10, and then for a week they started charging $5 for escort ads...until finally blocking the link to the adult services.

Im not too concerned, as they have by far the worst customer service for any escort-listing site around. The reject American ads with no explanation as to why, and then take 5-7 business days to remove the 'hold' from you bank card. At one point, I had over $50 held from them and there was nothing my bank could do as craigslist took their sweet ass time 'sending the paperwork' to remove authorization. You cant post in other cities, you can only post 1 photo and cant be anything even close to explicit, such as an underwear shot.

That makes me extra relieved that I moved out of the city I was staying at, because 98% of my business came from craigslist...I'd really be starving right now! Luckily, Im in a state that doesn't flock to low-rent sites and am in a much better position

I caught this the other day on tv when it was on Breaking News. I'd also been posting quite often on the free hookup/relationships area and it's very annoying too - even posts that are innocuous and don't violate the terms would get flagged sooner or later by the flag brigade, who seem to get their little control and power kicks that way. It's just way too easy to flag there, so I decided may as well be quite blatant and said I'm looking or men who offer their 'generosity', a 'reward,', etc. Would always get tons of responses (don't these guys ever sleep, they seem to live on CL!) most times lame and or from the resident CL men, but there were some gems to be had there, 1 was willing to part with $500.

I'd also been 'doing' some other dating/social networking sites with varying amounts of success. Also, although I know its somewhat risky but lucrative, the Tourist Central area trade in my state from time to time, I think I minimize any risk by only going for visitors, can tell them a mile off no matter how they 'blend'.

Still, I do think it's a bit of a shame - obviously not if the females are underage and or being trafficked, but for those who want to get their start and cut their teeth in the adult services in a DIY, fast cash way. Sometimes rightly or wrongly you just don't have the patience or interest in doing the indie or agency/parlour route first.
Gentlemen, start your engines.

I just dont understand what having under-aged girls trafficked is grounds to completely erase adult content ads. Its very controlling.

In addition, Backpage.com has no issue with escort ads. You can say whatever you want, as long as your genitals aren't showing. I think craigslist is on its way to DOOM...they've collected THOUSANDS of dollars from us over the years...how they gonna keep it up? Therapuetic section?

Now this is just crazy...Police say 2009 murder victim Johnny Altinger used the site to contact escort services. Filmmaker Mark Twitchell is accused of luring the man over the internet and then killing him in a local garage while acting out his own script.

Dont they know this can happen ANYWHERE on the internet? Whats next, America shutting down the internet?

Oh, wel maybe so: "I think all these sites should be shut down. I don't think people should be able to cruise the internet looking for sex."

Oh and lookie here: The 17 states whose attorneys general signed the letter are: Arkansas, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Thank God I moved out of Texas because my state is not on that list! I bet the attorney generals from the rest of the states are probably using craigslist LOL
