I went for a GUM checkup today (like the good boy that I am). On the questionnaire you fill in before you go there was a tick box asking whether I had been paid for sex - I never lie to doctors ever. So now I suppose I am officially a prostitute because it's in my medical records!
Eek

Ooh I've always chickened out of ticking that box, does anyone know why they want to know? Is it for government stats or do they give you extra shots and pink pills?
-
Maybe it's so the Bigwigs in the NHS know who to call if they get horny...
-
LOL, they could at least ask the rates then!
-
I find the GUM here in SW london sooooooo nice! They are always very understanding and give a million free condoms and hep jabs etc. They also advised me subtly that if I had a different name and record if I wanted to keep escorting secret, then they wouldn't notice "wink wink".
-
It could be for statistical purposes, but they also like to know for the risk assessment. At my clinic it doesn't seem to actually effect the assessment, but they have a different of questions to ask.
-
Wow Benny, you got off easy! On my last test I was asked personally by the counseler if "I ever paid for sex or if I ever been paid for sex" and there wasnt any boxes for me check. She checked them for me!
Personally I chose to say 'no' because to an extent its my business plus its illegal here so I tend to be a bit cautious. I should of said 'yes'...so that their stats will show a black male escort who is HIV negative :P I get pissed whenever I read the papers showing 'an increase in HIV cases among blacks' >:(

I don't remember that question coming up. Mind you it's been years since I first started going.
-
Why would anyone lie on a healthcare form? 'Have you/are you paid for sex? - Yes'. If I was that worried I would be using a false name on the registration form - I want the clinic to know what I do for a living so that I get the best care and advice (I have been known to tell them I do bareback just to make sure I get ALL the tests done super-properly, and I always get a talking-to :D).

Quite...

Amy you just lied! :D
I had thought about that also, that if saying I 'worked' that I'd get extra loving and extra condoms.

didn't get that question, but volunteered in the consulting room that I was a sexworker, to which the nurse replied that she was glad I said that as the care program for me would be different and more indepth. Cool!
