Double booking clients
« on: 26 October 2011, 03:18:33 pm »
I never ever double book clients.

However, today I have been unfortunate enough for my first 2 bookings to be no shows.

As a result I turned away potential genuine guys.

Today I am skinter than normal and am tempted to just double book for the rest of the day. I cant even believe I am thinking of doing this.

Hand on heart have any of you ever been tempted to do it?
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

I've done it twice........once by accident and once after a long frustrating day of TWs and idiots.

The first time, one didnt show.....so fine.  The second I thought both were not gonna show which would've been ironic.  I felt really guilty actually, then I just thought, whoever confirms first, gets the appt.  One did show in the end late but I found it pretty nerve racking, not sure I'd do it again!

Only thing i would suggest is to take the bookings that you feel is most genuine and and tell the other potential bookings that you  may be free at xxx time and would they like you to let them know
this is what i do  that way if  booking 1 dosent turn up often you can pick up another booking straight away

I do this however on occasion the dubious one has not been clear they are not coming, and/or the stand-in has then mucked about.

I've double booked once, once as above after a bad day when the first guy booked without any supposed knowledge of my 'details', but when he arrived I did tell him sorry I was giving it to someone who had sounded as though he'd looked me up properly. Second was a mistake however since both guys looked dubious, and they were advance bookings I left it until confirmation time. One didn't confirm so it was obvious, however the other did then confirm hours later........I'd have still almost definitely had made other arrangements.

Best avoided really.

I'm the same as others above.  I have done it but it doesnt do the nerves one bit of good.
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

How frustrating foryou , but i just give them the 15 min rule...  if not arrived within that time frame of visit or called to say they they are running late, then i call them , if phone switched off they are automatically informed they are cancelled as ive lost too mny genuine client because of time wasters . it works... then you can book youre next client in fast or call one back to offer an eaarlier appointment.hope that helps ...

Another way to do it is if you are in a flat/hotel operate a kind of first come first served thing where you tell them to get to a certain location and if you are free they can come straight along ( which is good if you are not sure about them or they are unsure on the time they will be free but obviously give them hours from to ) i used to always work like that years ago .............and have a few friends who still do .......you can still take apps and just say you are busy say 2 to 4......obviously  it only works if you are sat in said flat ;-p.............there is lots of ways of working just find one that is good for you .

I dont double book ..............as sods law they both would turn up .......i do find a lot more clients like to book their appointments now than they ever did before ( and are prompt ).

(only doing outcalls at the min but when doing incalls i do a mix of both apps and if you are in area you can take a chance ... i am up front with clients that they may have to wait or not see me  )

At the end of the day i am sat there to make money.... it also depends on how many clients you want/can do without notice ( i wouldnt do it if i worked from home though as would like boundries in place  ) .........( above is asuming you take phone bookings )

Guy number 1 had booked for 215. That appointment had been arranged for weeks and he even phoned the day before and an hour before. Guy number 2 had phoned at 2pm. I offered him 330. He said that would be too late but that I could text him if my earlier didn't show. It got to 225. I texted Guy number 1 to ask if he was still coming.  He didn't reply, so I texted Guy 2 who said he would make way. Half hour later Guy 2 wasn't there. I texted him to see if he was near as by then other guys were calling. He texted at 310 saying he was 20 minutes away. I then smelled a rat as he had earlier said 330 was too late the first time he called. He texted again 5 minutes later saying he was stuck in traffic and may be longer. I texted him back and said that was fine but if someone else was to call I would not be turning anyone down who could potentially arrive before him. I never heard from him again then the pillock tried to book me again today like I dont save timewasters' numbers. I just said phone when you are here. I am not doing the appointment system. Never heard a dickybird after that.
My 3rd appointment and all after that arrived as normal so I didn't doublebook in the end. Had my 3rd let me down too I would have done.

I make much more money when I use the first come first served system but I always fear that I could potentially lose a long term nice regular who will only use an appointment system.

I think we need to be slightly ruthless to make the money, so first come first served works for me.

I've had this type of scenario myself, it just leads to lots of hassle, frustration and further let down - so I've decided I won't chase 'replacements' and simply use the time to do something constructive.
