I started with plug in air freshener then Yankee candles, it got expensive buying large jars of new scents that I ended up not liking so I moved to melts, they actually lasts longer. A few clients have complimented how nice my apartment smells which I find sometimes helps put us in a good mood - nice smell and smooth music in the background is a must for me.
So I was wondering for ladies who use some type of scented product, perfumes, candles or room spray, what feedbacks have you gotten? Any compliments or complaints?
I have always gone for floral and fresh scents, what’s your favourite?

Mostly compliments however I moved away from Yankee, found them very cloying.
Some given to me from Wilkos have proven to be really very nice, also have indulged in more expensive brands. When travelling (tours) I use a mini room spray by Neom which goes with the body lotion I use, or a light scented candle in a tin. Beware of setting hotel smoke alarms off, so far has not happened to me yet - but I try the candle before any booking and also use them on personal stays so get chance to try them out!

I always ventilate my room well before and afterwards. If I was in a hotel room, I find the Febreze air fresheners best, a neutralish fragrance like cotton/linen. I go for ones that also counteract unpleasant smells.

I would buy cheaper perfumes and spray them in the room as easier then air freshener on the chest and the smell also lasts longer, something like charlie red smells soapy.

The Neom range is a keeper, got gifted a few bath foams and candles and I definitely enjoyed them. I like the idea of travelling with candles, that’s one I still haven’t done.

Same here that and Dettol Neutra Air are the only products I use plus including the plug in.

I ban myself from candles I nearly burnt my flat down. Flames move fast you know, I burnt a teacloth trying to control it!. Febreeze spray before they arrive, open windows when they leave, repeat.

I use an essential oil diffuser too for the smell, I put it on first thing and just let it do its thing all day. I use either a nce Dove scent or Angel. I used tea lights just for effect. Never had any complaints, only compliments x

Plug ins make my throat sore. I like oil burner jars and I mix lavender and bergamot.

+1 for febreeze. I prefer that to scented candles and plug-ins. Scented candles especially have a lot of harmful chemicals....hopefully febreeze does not.

More like what we do to remove any stench and sex smell from the previous client so they enter in a fresh smelling room (if its a hotel incalls ) or property/apartment

Which might also depend on how an individual works, I don't see many clients/don't accept many bookings. When working from hotels the last few years that client will have often been the only one in 24 hours, 48 hours. Very rare it's even 2 on one day. Incalls when not using hotels might be 2 that week. I have worked moderate volume quite a few years ago, even then there'd be days with just 1, none, 2, 3 maximum from a very big roomed airy property. However I can understand smaller rooms, more clients even just one who has strong aftershave or body smell can leave a trace.
I remember one hotel room last year was damp, candle was lit after returning from an outcall before my 1 incall. Other bookings on that tour were also outcall.
I also consider candles to make up for not wearing perfume, and also lifts my mood. Just feel nice in the nice smell.

What I use now I discovered by accident, I work from hotels/ apartments and would normally use a room spray/ air freshener etc and opening the window after a booking. One day I realised I had ran out of the room spray and found a impulse body mist in my case I’d bought in the past, I used that in the air. They smell delicious, there are a small bottle but last long and are cheap. The smell also doesn’t linger on clothes so I use them now instead of perfume too when I’m out the shower.

I carry the unscented Febreze with me & will give the room/bed a good spritzing after every other client or so. I also change the extra blanket/top sheet every day.
Quite by accident I found a lovely room spray. A client had brought me Clinique’s Aromatics Elixir ~ apparently I’d listed it on some site as my favorite perfume🤷🏼♀️ ~ but when I say that’d been *years* ago...
I’d worn it exclusively for a very long time, but now with my migraines I just have to be so darn careful. In any event, I waited til I got home, figuring if I was going to be sick, better to do it there, sprayed, sniffed & much to my pleasure I had no bad effects. It also made my place smell *amazing*, & I thought, hmmm.
So I’m carrying it now to use as that. Who’d have thought 🤷🏼♀️.

I tour and use oil burners from Body Shop - the range of oils are quite extensive.
Always get complimented by clients with regards to the fragrance in the room.

In my private life I used to burn expensive lavender oils in one of those clay burners where you use tea light to heat the oil. One day I was using it and I fell asleep. Luckily someone was calling me and I woke up. I could hear some spitting and crackling - the burner had caught fire. I threw some cold tea on it and put it out. There was a big black mark on the wall. I was horrified I could have burnt the place down. Since then I have never used it again or candles.
If you burn anything in a hotel and set off the fire alarm do you really want security coming up and finding you with your 70 year old boyfriend! The windows if they open are restricted by law. People can't jump out of the windows anymore. If there is a fire in a hotel now it would be horrendous.
If client is whiffy reject him at the door.

I work from home in a little one bed flat and I have 3 indoor cats - NIGHTMARE! I love my little fur-babies but they are certainly the most efficient turd factories I've ever come across and not everyone is around animals so I had a bit of a problem. Indoor cats means no open windows.
I didn't know this but there is actually a way to lock your windows in an open position so they cant be moved. Open your windows about an inch and then lock it how you would when you close it. Magic bit of information for me, I keep mine permanently open now, I can get fresh air without worrying about someone getting in or cats getting out when I leave.
I always febreeze before every client but something else I've stumbled across is incense burners. You can get such cute ones, there is no open flame, and the smells FILL the house. And the different scents you can get are incredible. I just bought a new fancy waterfall one for £15, they are on amazon and usually come with free incense cones. If anyone wants a link feel free to DM me, but they are super easy to find. I'm a vanilla girl so always go for vanilla but you can get so many!
Failing this, if I've forgotten completely about anything smell related. Take 2 caps (not cups) of vanilla extract and put it in your oven for 20 mins on a high heat. As a last minute resort your house will smell like cookies ;D Maybe it's not a sexy smell per se ... but works in a pinch

When I was touring I used to just use Febreze or Oust inbetween bookings but now I'm working more from home I do like a nice scent in the room. Its hard to find a balance though because I think strong fragrances can be offputting - like you're trying to cover something up. I recently started using a Wilko reed diffuser - it's Lime, Mint and Basil I think and it's subtle but noticeable and was a total bargain, under a tenner.

I have one of these I bought one associated with an MLM, recommended by someone who I didn't realise is one of their reps however I bought it direct not from the rep. I had already bought myself some essential oils after attending an aromatherapy workshop, learned about the oils and blends. Even just one oil on it's own is fine. The diffuser is excellent does need cleaning every so often, when you do don't get water in the power port, I did which resulted in a lot of strange noises, and lights flashing on and off when I plugged it in. Luckily did start working again after a few restart attempts.
Can't remember the brand they've been uncovered as a dodgy MLM, but the diffuser is fine and half the price of the Neom one. I'll check and get back to you.
Doterra I've had it over a year now, been fine just avoid the marketting. I buy oils by Quintessence, sometimes other brands but I am careful to make sure it's the right stuff and not fragrance. I don't know if fragrance oils can be used?

I have a electric wax melt burner better than the candle type ones as you don’t have to worry about burning the house down as its the lightbulb that heats up and burns the wax melts

I hate the way my shower gel makes the flat smell so I wash bath out with washing up liquid and open all the windows to air the rooms. I like a cotton linen smell plug in.

I went to Dobbie’s garden centre and bought an 8 pound bag of cinnamon cones. They have made my car smell really nice. Going to buy more from home. You don’t need to do anything to them. Am guessing over time the scent will fade but will see.
I am also interested in making my own wax melts. Need to investigate.

I find air fresheners very toxic so I have a DIY room spray, made from distilled water & drops essential oils of Lemongrass & Frankincense. Costs pence to make & smells like high end candles without the wax scent & mess.

At the entrance of my flat I have an automatic air freshener, every 10 minutes, I turn it on when I go to receive visitors, I turn it off when they leave ...
Because environmental odors are bad chemicals for health and respiratory tract,
but customers like a romantic atmosphere with soft music, candles and good smells

and I have received many beautiful words for my flat and the smell of good ..
We already know that a good environment and soft smells excite them, yes, it is very pleasant when they compliment me on my perfume or the smells of my house .... ///

One of my regulars got my a lovely set of candles which i love for Valentine's. I usually light these for him when he sees me to show my appreciation. I told him how much i love them. Hint hint.

I always spray my bed with scents, I know some of them don’t like it because it’s quite a sweet girly scent and get worried about it sticking to their clothes and skin but I don’t give a shit to be honest. Any time I smell the same spray anywhere it reminds me of work lol so I don’t spray it on my days off
