I got the gel/shellac manicures and I loved them. However, the places I went would remove them very roughly - they would file most of it off! Within a month my nails were screwed. I had to remove everything and then when I washed my hair my nails - which were now extra absorbent - picked up the traces of hair colour and there were ugly brownish patches until they grew out. Grim.

I think maybe some places will actually soak it off and not scrape it but it takes a long time and most won't bother.

Also, I did manage to chip even the shellac/gel. Mine would last about a week. Better than the 24 hours I get with ordinary polish but since you can't paint over top of the gel and it must be totally removed this didn't work for me.

Best would be to get a normal weekly manicure for the shaping and cuticle trimming and then touch up my paint myself. But who can be arsed?!

Yes. I think the secret is finding a place where they remove it correctly (which does take them time) and put on a new one. When it's well done it really lasts and I don't wear plastic gloves to do dishes though I do try to wear gloves to clean the bathroom etc. I've found a good place and I stick to it and at 25 every 2 weeks it's worth it.

I had the exact same thing with gels. They sold me the spiel that they're gentle and don't damage the nails at all. 3 sets in and they tell me I should give my nails a break for a few weeks... why should they need a break if the treatment doesn't damage my nails at all?!

Was so pissed.

I've had acrylics for years so my nails are ruined underneath, I like them long and pointed but had some painful accidents, when I retire I'm gonna have no nails, tan, lashes and never shave anything ever again! X

If I was paiting them to look classy the purpose would be defeated, I just can't find a nail varnish on the high street at least that doesn't chip after like an hour. So they just look neater non painted maybe with just gloss.

Professional salon jobs last about 2 weeks without chipping x

I always always have to have nail polish on my toes. I think feet are hideous so a bit of polish on toes makes them look a little bit more appealing I think. I hate my feet so anything to make them look prettier! On my actual finger nails I'm REALLY lazy and actually hate painting them but again, can't stand them bare. GELISH polish is an absolute life saver if you like having nice nails. I get them done at a salon once every two weeks usually. They can even last three weeks sometimes and it's not that expensive (?15-?20?) x

I use nail varnish but love Bio sculpture gel it saves having to think about nails getting chipped. I can't do without as feel bare.

I normally play up the fact that I have an au natural body/hair etc. but unfortunately I do look a bit barbie-ish with my natural long blonde hair, small body and huge tits so I usually enhance the experience with a 'summer glow' not 'orange-tastic' tan and full fake shortish length glitter acrylics. I would say I complete the 'whore look' but I always looked like this even before I started working, nothing particularly special for punters.

Does that make me an over the top whore or an ageing slag I dunno either way that's my work and natural look and I'll be sticking with it until I look too old to pull it off lol.

My toenails are always polished either red or pink.  I once had a client who asked me to remove my toe nail polish so he could suck my toes.  I was annoyed and refused as I hate to see my toes without polish. I find toenail polish lasts a good two weeks without a touch up.

I occasionally do my fingernails but find I have to change the polish almost every two days which is a pain. I don't like having chipped nail polish. I like my toes and fingers to match.

I used to get gel nails but found they messed up my nails and it took a year for them to recover.

I used to have pedicure and manicure with shellac on acrylic nails but with my civvy job I had to remove the nails for their health and safety policy. so its no nails yukk and painted toe nails.
when I  take a week off the nails go straight back on I miss wearing them.

I have my nails painted if I'm going out for the night or evening, as I'm crap at painting my nails myself, but leave them varnished until i think It's time they came off.
I don't have a steady hand and guess my hands are wanking hands for getting the awkward punters off  ;D

Try shellac, the polish lasts 2-3 weeks and keeps your natural nails strong and beautifull looking :)

I think it depends what kind of experience you're selling. If you are PSE - then go for the longest fakest nails possible.

I am a cuddly GFE type who hasn't painted her toe or fingers nails for years. I believe investing in nice hair, natural make up, snazzy lingerie, fresh bedding and a decent brazilian wax is appreciated by punters a lot more.
