Niece / nephew /cousin's dog works in that hotel
« on: 11 May 2025, 05:17:01 pm »
This is fast becoming a standout lame excuse from the long term TWs I get contact from, outperforming every other last minute feeble reason.

We agree a booking date, time and I give out my exact location and then - even less than an hour before the booking is due to start - they'll remember that someone they know works there. Never in the kitchen or hotel gym, always on reception. And of course the client is pretty sure they're working on the day in question at the very time the booking is due to begin.

I've now had 2 alleged client relatives on duty in the same hotel in the last week, well well, what are the chances  ::) ::)

Yeah I've had those occasionally at my incall.

"Oh sorry my grandma lives on X Road or sorry my best friend's cat likes to hang around that street."

I've heard it a few too many times to believe it  :FF

There is such a thing as a stupid question and there is not a first time for everything.

Using Grandma as an excuse reminds me of a colleague many years ago who couldn't come to work for a few days because her Gran had died. A few months later so did the other one. And then, the next year, one of them died all over again...

I’ve had it a couple of times but that’s in a lot of years and they’ve always been pretty gutted.

I think it’s just coincidence, albeit annoying.

I had some some wanker pipe up with ‘There’s no air conditioning in that hotel”. (Ignore then blocked) BUT, wake up wanker, it’s the UK.

What a lame excuse for being a TW twat.

I had the ‘Birthday Boy’ yesterday too. Asking for a deposit (because I knew he was the ULTIMATE TW twat, soon put his gas at a peep! “But I wanted to pay cash.” (Whine whine). Meanwhile I’m booking someone genuine in.

The bottom line is, regardless of their ‘often’ ridiculous excuses, they are time wasting pricks.

I’m still waiting for ‘my (insert name) has died’ but there’s always tomorrow  :D :D :D
