Covid vaccine 💉
« on: 18 March 2021, 05:39:22 pm »
Hi guys. I just wanted to share with you something, every GP surgery may be different!!!

I spoke to my GUM clinic the other day and explained that I may have to return to sex work on a few weeks, I haven’t worked at all since last February and do good on onlyfans but I need to go back for financial reasons but because of my anxiety I was very worried about it. they called my GP and got me in for a vaccine tomorrow. They were really good and explained that because I’m a sex worker I fall into the at risk category. So ladies please don’t risk yourselfs xxx

Really pleased for you, I was encouraged via other eligibility-something I do outside of sex work. At the time I was nowhere near the age groups being invited, at first I declined then another person encouraged me. Had to do a little foot work, obtained official permission then received the first dose.

Fingers crossed for the second.

I'm mostly using postal kits for testing sent by an outreach regionally as well as some privately paid. Local services in a poorly funded area really reduced during the pandemic. I consider myself fairly informed so prefer to let them get on with it, as well as minimise contact.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, on a Saturday. Felt awful the next day, really bad headache and couldn’t raise my arm, I was supposed to work the Tuesday but change the day to Thursday as my arm was still painful Tuesday, by Thursday it only hurt when I raised it in the air or if the part where the injection was put in was touched. My mum had the same one and was absolutely fine, suppose everyone is different

I got mine last Friday, felt really tired and fluey the next day then was fine.  Sitting at home 2 nights ago and had a sudden onset of burning in the elbow of my injection arm, it felt like my arm had been put in the fire and it was bright red!! Called the GP and was told I have "covid arm" and is quite normal and they had been getting a lot of calls about it.  It is your immune system going into overdrive, and quite harmless, cold compress and paracetamol and it had gone within a few hours.
I've always thought that SP should be classed in the priority groups,  a lot of workers have had to work through the pandemic  as this is their only means of income and survival, i even think we should be given lateral flow kits like employers are being given.

I had my first vaccine a week ago and apart from a slightly sore left arm for about 3 to 4 days there was nothing to worry about.  So a very positive experience.

We really need to take the media with a pinch of salt and be aware it is distortion of facts.

Just had my first jab, been feeling crap all week anyway so I'm hoping this doesn't make me feel even worse :)

Can we please keep it sex work specific, folks? It's wandering off a bit.

As a general guide, if an identical post could have been made by somebody who is not a sex worker then it belongs on another forum somewhere rather than here :).

I don't know if it's worth putting my vaccination status on my ads. Purely for marketing purposes really. Only had one dose so far but it might be a reassurance to the odd potential client.

The thing about getting the vaccine is that not only it protects you from getting ill to covid but your viral load  in case of transmission to a non vaccinated person is much  lower. Apparently chances of transmitting covid once you're vaccinated become lower once you get vaccinated. I am thinking in mentioning my vaccine status on my website.

My concern is that people may think they can be lax both outside bookings, and with things like handwashing on arrival.

Already received contact which indicates there's a feeling of safety, and that other precautions can be dropped.

I adopted handwashing on arrival (me or them) in Feb 2020, and intend to continue because I consider it good practice but have reason to believe there may now be a little resistance by a one or two.

I know someone who was offered the covid vaccine by the sexual health clinic because they know she is a sex worker. Could be worth enquiring.

You are in charge of the situaion and if you want to continue the handwashing on arrival etc then make it clear when they come through the door.
I find that once they are inside your propery they are already being led by their dicks so a small request like washing their hands is no problem.
Be assertive but charming, I find that if the guy isn't a dick/control freak then they actually appreciate this, it makes them feel that you take your own safety and theirs seriously.
