Title: Cheap work phone
Post by: rae on 05 March 2020, 01:21:19 pm
Just thought I'd share.
If anyone is looking for a cheap work phone. You can get a phone in Argos for 99 pence if you buy £10.00 credit.
It's just a basic phone, that can make calls and sends texts, but that's all I need for work so it's ideal for me.
It's on Vodafone network.

How can you work with a cheap phone? The sheer volume of texts I have to respond to a basic keypad is not viable. In fact even with a smartphone I use preset texts. And basic phones usually can't effectively block callers/texters.

I must not be as popular as you. The days of having texts coming through every five minutes are long gone.  Happy to answer half a dozen a day now and get a couple of bookings through them.

Blocking numbers is something I don't do either. I like to know who is calling/texting. I can log them in my phone and ignore them next time they try their time wasting.

My website says 'texts are ignored and I only take voice calls seriously.'
So a stone age phone is all I need. I put unbeloved callers in my contacts list as wanker975 etc. It's as effective as blocking.
Normally I get 1 call 1 job so all this text stuff is a bit of a time waster and irrelevant to me.

I have a smart phone for friends and family.

I got a super cheap phone but found it struggled with what’s app and client eye.

I would never use WhatsApp for whoring anyway. I find my old dumb retro Nokia is fine, and the only limitation is the amount of text messages it can store. However, I'm pretty ruthless when it comes to deleting them, and only keep very dodgy ones for reference.

I've got a third, secret squirrel phone (smart) for an anonymous Twitter account for a completely different interest, and I've actually installed ClientEye on that, just to check the odd number. My personal phone is completely unlinked to anything escort related.

It's intrusive also difficult to decrypt should the authorities want to find you or use the messages as evidence to solve a crime.

Also tends to attract people who just want to chat.

I'm similar to Justine. I only meet a couple of people a day, and don't get loads of text messages. I work from a small town though.

It's linked to Facebook, and a lot of blokes are lax with discretion, e.g. real names, photos displayed etc. It's fine so long as you never log on to any personal SM site with your whore phone etc.

Yeah makes me chuckle when you see photos of their kids and their trying the bravado act.

Think tesconare sill doing their basic phone for the same price, may have gone up to £15 with £10 credit though. Tesco is really good to go with payg  as you put £10 credit on you  get £20 credit free

The thing I like about the cheap Nokia is that I can text in my pocket if I have to. Dont need to even look at it, it just becomes automatic. Also I dont block numbers I save them as. Time waster, noshow(with date), asshole, my fave was shit the bed... you can guess why pmsl

I'm not popular either I get about 5 - 10 clients texting me a day but from each it takes about 2 more texts to find out they're a timewaster so that's 10-20 texts a day.
I used to log blocked callers in my phone but I have to block so many timewasters that it's too slow a process. I just press block and forget about them.

You lot must get a lot less timewasters than I do for some reason. 90% of texts and calls that I get are timewasters. Which is why I set up a semi-automatic system using preset texts. They text me, I text them price and postcode, if they don't confirm an appointment time after 2 texts I ignore them

Yes. Guys on there just want to chat and hassle you for free pics. I get texts asking me for my whatsapp all the time, why on earth would they want it if they can text me? Because it's a chat app with picture sharing function. They're just timewasting losers who want to collect girls on their whatsapp to chat to when they're bored/horny

I like the Apps I can get with my android smartphone though.
Trucaller let's me add all the info about callers that I need at a glance, plus their address directly links to Google maps, so I can immediately inform them of ETA when they call to book again.

I block literally dozens of timewasters per week, but I can check the spam folder from time to time (see if anyone has become stalkerish/potentially a threat)

Personally, I could never go back to my teeny little Samsung clamshell (unfortunately  :'()

I did use an old fashioned phone for a small period of time. I like to save numbers and write notes about them, if needed. I never used to bother with whatsapp, but find it quite useful now as the 'big shots' feel less anonymous and I can get back to foreign numbers.
