Well, I finally did it.
I finally registered as self employed and am now legit!
Hurrah!

Would not reccommend too long doing this without coming clean to the tax chiefs that your up to something. No matter what you say that something is.
I only realised this past week as I was going about sorting all aspects of self employment out legally, the strain I was carrying about with me. A sort of ducking and diving feeling, a worry about who was walking through my door, not just in the natural worry of personal safety and so on.... The catch her out and punish her tax-style worry!

Am currently searching the net for a good, basic, cheap if not free book keeping course. Any suggestions as to where one would be, very greatly received.
But for now, break out the nice, expensive coffee beans and percolate some up! It is all legit around my joint!

I am looking into a business course that the JC run for free. It's a three day thing where you get a crash course on what you need to do. I already did the actual run a business side of it last year, how to advertise and such stuff. Now I need to do the tax side of it!
I fully expect Mr Brown to pay for my condoms! Ha!

I've completed part of the AAT course and will say it just isn't needed! All you do is keep records of your ins and outs. Total at end of year and enter into the online submission form. The biggest decisions will be regarding the proportion of rent/bills that you claim. The tax form even has a calculator that works out depreciation on your car these days.

 

Nice one Abby! There are a couple of good "for dummies" guides to about book keeping etc- they are brilliant for reference. I think I have learned everything I know about the world from dummy's guides!x
