I went to a normal race meeting there last summer.  Yes, ladies still dress up but not many had hats, me included.  Although if you want to wear a hat then am sure it won't look out of place!

As an aside, if you look at the pictures of the brawl at Ascot, there is a lady wearing pink on the left hand side.  That is the escort Divalicious, aka porn star Rebecca More.  Makes the brawl seem more understandable when you are aware that the ladies were egging the men on.

The rest of her party were not allowed on the race course due to dress restrictions so they were "performing" on the heath instead.  Lol.  Each to their own, but not at Royal Ascot!
