Okay, so at the minute I live with a friend who I've know about a year. She's a lot older than me, 35. Sat downstairs and belle de jour is on the tv, she comes downstairs and starts watching. It's the scene where Belle's client is a young lad who's wheelchair bound, Belle is giving him an opportunity to be with a girl and not feel judged. it's one of my favourite scenes. And my friend goes "ew, look at that dirty bitch havin sex with a disabled person for money. It's disgusting. Where's her self respect"
...she doesn't know about me. Just the complete disgust on her face and this is just on tv!! it didn't hurt me it just pissed me off. How can people be so judgemental and harsh. It's quite ridiculous really that people are able to pass judgement on something they know nothing about! Really annoyed me and I almost slapped her for being so nasty! I never pass judgement on anyone! I just wish others could be the same.
Anyway...rant over haha. xx
That's just people for you (most of them, anyway). How many times we hear someone "casually" pass judgment upon something or someone, and the subject is close to us (maybe we have a friend or relative in the same situation, whatever that might be) so we just want them to shut up and stove their hypocrisy?
It happened to me plenty of times, about the most different subjects (from criminality to being vegetarian, from homosexuality to car brands)... It is well annoying, but I try not to bother, and sometimes I think that even I might fall into the same mistake, occasionally, without even realizing.
Just don't let it/them get to your head.
