Am I just having a bad week
« on: 23 April 2009, 01:16:45 pm »
Hi Girlies and guys,

Not sure wtf is happening but I have had two guys in as many days turn up and pull out striaght away! Getting all paranoid now that they know my address. As I am not very experienced yet and feel uncomfortable in the situation I didnt think of asking for a cancellation fee untill after they were gone. Whats the best way of doing this?

Ah Steph, don't take it to heart at all. Guys are fickle at times.
I would be watchful for a while, who is parked up outside your place when your coming and going, you know the sort of thing, just keep a look out.
You possibly just had a couple of fools in a row. Try not to worry too greatly about the address aspect of it but just be aware that's all.
It's okay to feel a bit uncomfortable and forget to ask for the cancellation fee. We only learn really from the things we should have done so don't feel daft about that.
You need to feel daft when you do what I did a couple of weeks ago and forget about the fee completely, and I do mean totally. The guy arrived, did his thing and left then it struck me. Good job he is a regular, he came back before he reached his car to pay me. Now that was stupid!
In future, if it makes you feel better about it tell them over the phone that when they arrive, if your not what they are looking for then there will be a charge for the time it took you to get ready to see them. Then it's not so difficult to ask for it should they want to go home as soon as you open up the door. Some do Steph, some get all carried away then simply can not go through with it, it is not to be taken personally. It's their issue. Don't make it yours.
You will be fine once you land on your feet, it won't take you long.

I wont re-iterate what Joanna said, but she is certainly right!

By the way Stephanie, most guys are willing to do atleast a 50 for a cancel fee. Especially for outcalls, I dont play that sh*t. But it only happens once in a blue (hey, I cant please everybody)...

Incalls are a bit tricky. I had someone walk out on me when I booked a hotel, and although we didnt touch each other...I didnt get a cancel fee. In fact, he called me back to explain why he left (was nothing against me), and I told him off and said I normally charge a 20 for cancel fees, ESPECIALLY since I went out of my way to go to the liquor store and buy wine AND call the front desk to do a late check out AND he was late!

I wouldnt recommend telling them "if you dont like what you see, then I'll need a cancel fee" as that psychologically implies the person wont be satisfied. Like I said, most are willing to do so (not sure about incalls though honestly, thats was tricky for me). With outcalls they know if they dont pay me, I packed a toothbrush and some sleepwear and will be more than happy to hold myself hostage at their place until they pay me!  :D

Another thing I did, which I wouldnt recommend though, is someone tried to walk out and not pay me in my hotel, in which I then blocked the door of the hotel and told him he's not leaving without paying me...Had things gotten rough, backup was around the corner  :-X

Oh...cant forget about the time I went to visit someone, I needed to take a leak once I got in, he got scared that I was using drugs or possible going to rob him (his word choice) and gave me $60 and let me go...I did end up learning not to go straight to the bathroom when visiting a client. In fact I get down to my underwear so the paranoid ones have no reason to think Im up to something!

You don't take money up front?
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

yes, but we didnt end up doing anything. He got scared, but I wasnt going to have him standing me up til what was like 2am without a cancel charge.

Poor you Steph, that's rotten. In a similar vein (although admitedly not the same), this weekend I had two people on the same tube journey get up and move away from me. Now moving away to a better seat I can understand but one moved to what was blatantly not a better seat. I am hurt and questioning my choice of roll on.

what do you mean your choice of roll on? I dont think you should feel too bad about someone on the train moving away from you. I used to do it at times to get to the front (or back) for whatever reason.

Oh! I get it, roll on..meaning deodorant? lol...well, I've had that happen before where some deodorants have let me down, and yes it is embarrassing. If you feel thats the case, be sure to choose deodorants with anti-perspirant. Not all deodorants have anti-perspirant, which keeps you 'dry'. Most anti-perspirants are the white powdery kind that can leave residue...but they never fail. The clear gelly ones usually dont hold up as long though. I use the clear gelly ones when I get ready for 'business'...as the powdery ones tend to flake and leave residue on the couch  :o
