I don't know about that Teddy Bear, it was really kinda mundane, couldn't see anyone that was a star-turn or 'switching on' for the cameras in that place.

This is yorkshire don't forget, in the words of a yorkshire girl I know 'they are simple folk'.  And fair play to them for that.

Another pertinent thought is - If the documentary, was mundane at it's edited version (although true to life/fly on the wall) imagine how boring it must have been editing the decent bits! or watching it before being edited!

I think it showed prostitution as it is, day to day mundane. I can't imagine there's a vast difference (other than financial) between North and South.
Describing northerners as "simple folk" is quite offensive. I sincerely hope that's a joke and not what you genuinely presume...

I was on holiday last week so only just seen this on channel 4 on demand.

The documentary was okay but what really made it was the people involved, the mother in particular was HILARIOUS!

The way she pronounced some things and the line at the end almost killed me. When they asked her about her own sex life she replied,

"I guess it's a bit like working at a fish and chip shop...you'd soon go off fish and chips!"

Brilliant!!

I found it interesting.
It's a whole world of 'other' standards I never knew about.

But I got annoyed that they slipped in 'celebrities' like
Freebie Hunter-George Maccoy and activist, Laura Lee
without acknowledging who they are.

That spoilt it for me.
I think not being upfront about their participation was a wrong decision.

Was Laura Lee the Irish one? She seemed really nice. Very switched on. Watching that programme made me nostalgic for the brothel life but I'm not sure ahout going back to those prices...

Being born in God's own country is my get-out clause when I speak/write bluntly to morons.

I just watched this doco here in Australia

Really enjoyed it - reminded me of my short stint working
At a similar set up in a basement flat in London years back, Dressing gowns,
Cups of tea and annoying "regs" that don't have much else to do

But in all seriousness, aren't brothels illegal in the uk? How do these
Ladies get away with running one?

Luck that they won't get caught?

Proceed with reality doco that's broadcast to the world?

I guess the police tolerate it as it's not a priority for them to close these places down - they'll only spring up elsewhere.
Assuming there's no evidence of trafficking/underage sex then police have got better things to do.
