im wondering if 50 shades of grey is gonna end up being good or bad for business....
women all over the place are gonna be getting randy and potentially giving their husbands a bit more action in the sack. or it could turn on the men making them seek out our services?
what do we rekon?

Marquis de Sade is 50 shades above 50 shades of grey! ;D
Ahoj! SPOILER!
I put the book down when the girl said she was a virgin and this hooootiiie guy had to deflower her first. Blah.
-
No chance, they'll all be going to bed with their Rampant Rabbits and complaining that their husbands are nothing like Christian!!! Finished the third book yesterday and albeit extremely tame I must confess to missing it!
-
The fuss over this bloody book just makes me pull a face.
The same happened when Billie Piper put on her suspenders
and the country went wild.
My friend is about to finish the book and offered it to me to read.
I said no thanks. I don't read fiction these days.
As to whether it will affect business, not a chance! I have no worries over that at all.
-
If my business was so fragile that an embarrassingly tawdry and badly written work of fiction was capable affecting things, I'd be putting some serious effort into shaping up a bit as it would be entirely my own fault.
-
I fond the book a load of s***.
It has no depth, story or upmffff, just endless pages of trivia, esp for us escorts.
Wish I was so easily entertained.
-
You've finished the third book! - I couldn't get beyond the few excerpts I read in Morrisons...
-
It will be pure titillation for those not having an exciting time in the bedroom.
I would much rather be doing it than reading about it.
Fifty shades of ::) :P ::) not grey, more a khaki brown.
:)

A very sweeping statement there E38! Those of us who are getting the excitement in the bedroom inside and outside of the work are still able to enjoy it! I have my very own Mr Grey so maybe that's why I enjoyed the books? Who knows but then we all enjoy different things for different reasons at the end of the day!

I swear if I get ONE MORE GUY email me with " let me be your chritian grey" (obviously him thinking he's doing me a favour and wanting it for free) I'm gunna don a strap-on and reply "no I'M the Dom! You can be Steele, bend over" its ok for light-hearted fun but pleeeease! When a 50-odd year old bloke is poncing about trying to get 20-somethings to wear handcuffs quoting "its kinky fuckery" (another saying I'm gunna snap at!).... Its just a bit, well, sad! The age gap is fine, but trying to follow some lame-ass example of bdsm is poor!
Although I do have a regular who wanted to be my "Mr Grey" and I asked him where my Audi A3 was.... Never mentioned it again :)

Up till now this is my favourite review:

Hilarious.
-
I found it a bit tepid, no storyline, no mystery, no oooomph, repititive and eye rolling.
and business has picked up for me a little I don't know whether it's the book, school hols or the fact I am taking a wee bit of time off but I am pleased it has x
-
My eldest son said to me that if I'd have written that book it would be called 3995 shades of multicolour!!! And he doesn't even know I'm an escort! lol

The topic of this thread is quoted above, for the OP's benefit and everyone elses. I've already removed one thread about whether or not this book is shit a couple of weeks ago because it was nothing to do with sex work, and anybody wanting to post their contribution to that debate can do it on Amazon. In fact please do, since the idea of reading those is far more appealing entertainment-wise than the thing itself.

im a major book reader and i havnt read it i hate it when things are hyped up to be amazing or brilliant read ( i often find them to be crap and can't get past the first 3 pages so i havnt read it ) and probably never will especially while its being touted on mums net

basically, THE answer! lol
also...olympics...affecting business? i think everyone is glued to their tvs!!
-
even though I've given up..it has made me wonder!
I read upto chapter 8 and put it down! didn't do it for me

My ex boyfriend cheated on me with escorts, and it didn't matter that I gave him as much sex as he wanted, and out sex wasn't boring at all. I think guys who aren't single and still see escorts, do it (mostly) for the thrill of it, not because they are treated badly by their partners.....
Anyway- i have read half of the first book, and couldn't take anymore. It was so cheesy, unrealistic, yet predictible the same time. And full of cliches like: the girl putting the guy's shirt in the morning and cooking breakfast, helicopter date, 5 orgasms in 2 minutes...

I specialise in submissive role play services, and secretary spanking scenarios are my bread and butter, along with schoolgirl style corporal punishment. Hardly any clients have mentioned this book to me, weirdly enough!! For the first few weeks after the MAJOR furore of the book I brought it up casually after appointments - but im getting the impression it's mostly wives and gf's reading it perhaps. I even bought a copy for my working flats mantelpiece. According to my receptionist not one dude has picked it up whilst waiting to see me. Just my two penniesworth here.
-
My Mother took it on holiday to read and reported back saying it was 'Tame and boring' - she's in her 70's...
Another friend described it as 'Fifty Shades of Meh'
Thank you though for this Ana, it made me laugh so much!

Its interesting to read all the different views on this topic, Id originally posted a similar forum post which was removed but seems this particular one has been allowed! :)

It was removed because it was a book review inviting other book reviews and had no connection or relevance to sex work whatsoever. This one is basically the same thing but with the words 'bad for business?' added, which gives it context and thus makes it on topic :).

Rooby that link is fab :)

Anyone watching the Ch4 documentary about 50 shades which is on as I speak? I've got it on in the background to find out a bit more about the book without having to read it.... Just watching a table full of ladies who you can just imagine being on "mums net" discussing their thoughts on it....
Not sure how much of the programme I can be bothered to watch.... ha ha
-

I was nearly rolling is Tesco aisles with laughter as I read just a paragraph.
It started out as Twilight fan fiction so why a bloke would want to be a sparkly vampire I dont know
-
ROFL at this documentary - best quote ever so far by comedienne Ninia Benjamin - "its a book, its bollocks, but its a book - and that's why she don't get cystitis!" Love it! :D ha ha

I wish I'd watched it now, just for that quote!
As for that book being bad for business, then no. Not one client has mentioned it. I doubt that any have read it and if they have they are too embarressed to admit to it.
Now if was a decent book, then it would be good for business as men would read it, get horny, come see us. If a client did read 50 shades of boredom, he'd be too bored to see us. He would either be laughing at it, or scratching his head wondering why women don't fall at his feet when he tells them what to do.

Not read any of the books.
Have heard all the hype and suppose it's a bit more than the usual Jilly Cooper, 'rolling in the hay loft with well endowded handsome showjumping guy'.
I have however, had 2 bookings with new clients this week. Both late 20's, wanting mild bdsm, spanking, restraint, butt plugs etc. Does the guy in the book play a sub? Suppose I better read the bloody book eh? ::)

In last night's documentary it was described as "Mills and Boon with buttplugs" !
The guy, Christian Grey is the dom...

Christian was a sub to an older woman (his mum's best friend) from the age of 15 then realised that he needed to dominate and chose girls who looked like his crack hore mother, all very screwed up!
I have my books out on display, not in your face, but enough for the guys to notice and I've had several discussions about the books, beats talking about the weather! LOL!

So it's a book about a guy who was sexually abused by a women as a child and later in life when he became an adult felt the need to sexually abuse other women.
Sounds like awesome mommy porn stuff!! Let me run to the bookstore.

*wonders if a display of Asian horror DVD collection would do any good*

So, as I'm a 45 yr old mature escort, this book may be the reason for my younger, sub clients of late?
