"No taxation without representation"
« on: 20 December 2010, 01:05:43 am »
So most aspects about your trade is criminalised.
Clients scared off with threats of rape,
if the escort was coerced by a pimp.
Crackdowns on where and how you can advertise.
Marginalisation by society.

Every politician criticises escorts.
Intro new laws to put your very lives at risk...
But they still want to tax you???

I mean WTF?

I actually have several jobs: I kidnap homeless people and sell their body-parts to Chinese hospitals on Asia-ebay
and also trade in weapons grade plutonium to unstable third world regimes.  All reprehensible, and illegal.
But prior to getting prosecuted and quite rightly being put in prison for 28 years,
they want me to pay tax on any profits.

Is there something very wrong with government revenue & customs?

I think there is a HUGE moral issue here,
but one that rarely gets made by escorts.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna board some ships and just as they sail* past parliament,
dump their cargo of tea into the Thames
Who's joining me?

*They are very old  ships, probably

Excellent post! The fact that we have to pay tax when safe procedures such as working with another escort from the same flat is deemed illegal by the backward law, makes me so SO mad!! How dare the government. I mean, seriously, how dare they. How dare they take our money with such hypocritical laws in place.

I tell you though, it's a good job that most of my friends and family don't know I do this because they'd be in for daily tirades about this particular idiotic situation.

Could we all write identical letters to the tax man on 31st jan saying "reconsider the laws and you'll get our tax"? There wouldn't be enough places in prison for all of us, surely?! And let's face it, it'd take about 15 years for HMRC to compute anything. Might make 'em listen when we've actually grabbed them by the bollocks/wallets by witholding our valuable funds for their greedy pockets?!

Ah, I can dream..... ::)

It's a very good point but... we don't pay taxes because people think we're awesome, we pay taxes because they are the "fees" for living in a nice society where you probably aren't dying of the plague or living in a sewer or being kept in a harem, unless you perhaps decide to do those things for some reason.

The way we all look at each other in this country is pretty bloody negative. Mention the words "estate agent" or "cyclist" or "politician" to any person (choose the most likely to be effective ;)) and you'll get a two-hour tirade about how much that person doesn't enjoy sharing their country with those sorts of others. We have a very "What about ME and MY SACRIFICES?" attitude here and very little care or interest in looking after each other. There is less support for the NHS and the welfare system etc now, apparently, than there was during Thatcher's time. Nobody wants anything to do with anyone else!

That said, obviously there are certain groups who are marginalised to the extent that they suffer increased violence while being more likely to be ignored by police, and tend to work harder and cause less trouble than others while being pointed at by many as some sort of scourge of the world. These groups need things to change more than anyone else, and especially in the (very important) issue of prossies being actually allowed to work safely in groups, we need laws to change ASAP!

I don't think us short-changing public services and making things even more rubbish for the poor and underprivileged in society would really be part of taking steps in the right direction, though. :-\

My personal dream is that prossies regularly go on strike until the laws and general societal understanding of us change - I'd like to see the country keep running smoothly without us!

i agree with what everyone else has written here to be honest.  but i'd like to add another wish - that i could place limits on what my taxes are used for, so that they actually do go towards useful things like health, welfare, education, etc and not on any more bombs, wars, unnecessary prison-building, politicians decadent lifestyles, etc etc.

I only pay tax because I approve of the army killing people in other country's.
I'm sure that makes me guilty of a pretty serious crime,
but they don't seem bothered.
