Hey there all!

A few of you may remember seeing my previous post about The Sex Workers' Opera in London! So far the experience has been incredible and the project is shaping up to be something beautiful.

We have changed the structure somewhat now, you no longer need to come to weekly meetings, all you need to be willing to do is use three days of your life to create something wonderful.

No music or acting experience necessary.

Any support on there is greatly appreciated as we have 9 days to reach our goal, but if you can't donate thats FINE, but please help spread the word!

We are inviting sex workers and allies from all across the country to come and take part in this experience.

On Monday the 26th of May, Tuesday 27th of May and Wednesday 28th May we will meet at a venue in East London and we will start three days of intensive workshops during which we will all co-create and design a story, songs, sets and music and will culminate in two public performances on the 28th May and the 29th May at The Courtyard Theatre, Hoxton.

We have recieved training from the Royal Opera house and are experienced in faciliating workshops that will enable us all all to communally design a show we are all proud of.

We want allies to be a part of the project, however as we want the stories to be presented in voices that will represent the sex worker community as accurately and genuinely as possible, we would like the cast and crew of the opera to be no more that 50% allies - the more sex workers involved, the better! All allies that would like to be involved must also be vouched for by a sex worker.

If you are interested in getting involved and would like to be a part of the three days then please get in touch and email participate@sexworkersopera.com and I will send you an invitation and directions to the workshop location.

We are safety conscious and no real names need to be used during the process or the production and we will do our utmost to ensure security and safe spaces during the rehearsals.

All profits from the performance will be shared fairly amongst participants.

We would love to have you on board. If you could also please pass this information to any other relevant parties (feel free to forward this email), arrange a call out on your networks, for sex workers and allies who might be up for taking part we would really appreciate it!

There are also ways to get involved if you can't/don't want to take part:

We would love you to write us something about your experience of Sex Work that you would like to be included in the show. It may be a positive experience, negative experience or a complex mix.
It could be an experience that you feel is necessary for the public to know about - to change their view on Sex Work.
It could be something poetic and whimsical.
It could be clinical and scientific.
Maybe it?s hilarious.
Maybe it?s painful.
Maybe it?s boring.
We don?t mind.

If you are happy for it to be used in the production and happy for it to be put up on our website then please send it to stories@sexworkersopera.com! All stories will be anonymised.

This is a vital part of the production and we want a huge range of diverse experiences so anything you can do to spread the word to Sex Workers who might like to provide a story would be wonderful.

We promise we will NOT edit, twist or re-word your story in ANY WAY. The stories will all be put up on our blog, and we will also show clearly how we have used them in the production.
