Title: Have you ever bought a gift for a client?
Post by: Justine on 11 January 2023, 01:41:56 pm
After reading the thread re big/expensive gifts from clients (I haven't had any but plenty of the usual chocs/perfumes/flowers/wine and small jewellery items) it made me curious enough to ask has anyone bought any kind of gift for a client?
I did this recently for my most treasured and reliable man who is regular monthly but sometimes twice monthly. He has never crossed a line regarding discretion or inappropriate behaviour in any way and I gave him a small gift before Xmas, something I knew he would appreciate. He was very happy and it enhanced the session. It cost only a few £s.

Yes, books mostly, although the last gift was a bottle of a Japanese salad dressing that I knew that particular client would love.

If a client takes me away on a trip/multi day bookings, I always give them a handwritten thank you note too. I know many will think I'm crazy but for me, it's good manners and a way to show my appreciation.

Not a gift as such. But I gave a regular client of mine, a couple of moisturising foot socks, because he had dry heels.

He was very happy man  :)

No and I never would as I always throw away gifts clients give me or leave them at the hotel or apartment. I view it like I’d be taking their energy home with me. I don’t care how expensive the gift is it goes in the bin or the maids can have it x

Yes , bottles of good whiskey/ wine for my best clients as a Christmas gifts .
Done for years now and it’s always been appreciated . I mean - I get thousands of pounds off them throughout the year ;D, so this is a small token of my appreciation for them.

Like oleyaleyWG says, I’m funny about receiving most gifts unless its something expensive like a bag or perfume from a really nice client, I was given a reusable Costa cup the other day and I left it in the hotel because there’s no way I’m drinking my coffees from a random clients idea of a gift. I also hate it when they buy flowers, the thought of having a bunch of flowers in my house for a week from a client turns my stomach (harsh but true!)
I do have one lovely client I see every week though that I buy birthday and Christmas gifts for, nothing too expensive but I think it’s a nice gesture to the ones who have a good track record.

omg I hate receiving flowers you have to be like awww they’re so nice thankyou while simultaneously looking for the nearest bin! It’s so bad even on the aw interview I always put stuff that I don’t like such as perfume that I think stinks like piss just so I’m not tempted to bring it home if someone bring me a bottle x

I love receiving flowers, but they aren't discreet for my incall. Very happy to receive outcall. One client has bought me a luxury version of a tea I drink, lots of other thoughtful gifts but initially I was very apprehensive re presents and for a while would put some off.

I wouldn't buy a gift for a client.

But I reward loyalty, so my regs get an extra half hour free on their birthdays.

Hmm, if my hairdresser gave me a Xmas pressie (aside from the usual box of Roses open for all clientele) I would be shocked!
Aren't we - as service providers - supposed to be receiving a bonus as fruits of our annual labour/services rendered?  ;)

I have only ever passed on from a Client given a brand new Client an expensive alcohol present and card, believing it to be his birthday.
I sort of realised it was just a line afterwards..

Now, I take with a pinch of salt anyone who claims I am their "birthday treat"

I’m not sure I’d say gifts as such but if I’m hosting clients whose company I really enjoy, I’ll try make sure I’ve got in refreshments and a treat for half time or afterwards that I know they’ll specifically appreciate. It’s only a wee thing but I know the thought counts. Would I go much further than that? I don’t know. I do like the idea of giving books though - my shelves are stacked with books clients have bought me and I appreciate that, plus it’s an easy one to say you bought for yourself.

I reward my favourite long term regulars with extra time but I never do discounts or special offers.

I have a long term reg who I do buy birthday and Christmas gifts for because he goes above and beyond for me all the time, every time and I have known him for years. He's done so much other stuff for me it's phenomenal. And he's always there. It's nice  :)

Yes, I do buy the odd gift for certain regulars at Xmas if they have been a very loyal regular that year, just some wine/nice drink or if I know they like a certain footy team or band, something to do with that, just small but just to show I appreciate them and actually enjoy our conversaitons  bearing in mind they might have to ''explain'' some gifts to a significant other.

Maybe some chocs/champers if it is their Birthday.

Always will buy a clients even non-regs some drinks if we are having a cocktail date or out somewhere but generally not if it's a hotel though as the prices are crazy ha and they are charging it to their room anyway so it just causes a massive fuss.

One time though, it didn't seem to go ''down very well'' and the client got very uneasy and basically ran a mile. I had brought him some Jack Daniels and it came with 2 matching glasses for Christmas, as it was his fave drink, so not even a particularly personalised gift and they never booked again !!!

This is great! I’ll use this in the future
