Reducing rates. Is it necessary now or should we hold out.

If you don't want to drop your rates but don't mind taking less temporarily then you can always have special offers which will bring the men in.. do a special rate on half hour bookings between certain times or offer a limited service for less (I do a BJ quickie which is quite literally JUST a bj, I don't get undressed, they don't touch me under my clothes and it usually lasts about 5 minutes, I charge ?30 for it and it is very very popular)!

There's lots of things you can do webcamming is a good way to top up earnings but you do need the patience of a saint sometimes. I can earn very good money on webcam between 9/10pm-2/3am but god it can be boring sometimes. I much prefer it when my partner is there to join in.

Alot of the indi girls in my area have lowered to ?120 and alot of them even 60/70 for a ONE HOUR APPOINTMENT, YES ONE HOUR :/
If I had to lower my rates or my agency chose to lower them that much I think I would get a normal job :| and that is in no way trying to be offensive...but I really do not think 60/70 an hour is enough for what we do! x

Spot on Lou. Too many outsiders (falsely) think that a lot of escorts are rolling in it: I hear things like even at a rate of 100ph, if you saw 3 clients a day that?s still ?1200 ?tax free? for 15 hours work. GRRRRRR!!! Not only is it utter crap that a job like ours would have that level of consistency but most people fail to see all the work that is required to get those bookings ? endless emails, phone calls, preparing for meetings, cleaning up after etc. I sometimes feel like to even get two bookings, I have to spend most of the day doing stuff like this, so it?s not a 15 hour week for ?1200. More like 30 plus. That is before you take out things like rent, childcare, supplies etc.

I agree we should be paid a premium for the risks we take. Fireman do, on the grounds they risk their lives for the good of the community. Well so do we, every time we open the door we can never know whether it will be Brad Pitt on the other side or a mad axe murder. If that?s not risk, I don?t know what is. Oh and dishing out blow jobs to poor sexually frustrated souls is definitely community service!

there is a reaon for the higher pay,the reasons are bloody endless.............
And like you said when all the costs are took into consideration,it can be crap.
And lets be honest,we take huge risks and have to put up with alot..

I tried putting my prices down for a few months.  Yes I was really busy but with guys that mostlyl ended up in my phone as twat, only when desperate or WHFO (when hell freezes over).  So yes you get busier but with alot of guys who hve no respect, push boundaries and are downright horrible.  As one guy said to me before being sharly removed "well you're cheap so its not as if you have any self respect is it".  Prices went straight back up and I now get the clients who want to see me not just want the cheapest shag they can find.  Even on my discount days which I often do some of the guys that turn up only want a cheap shag and have no interest in actually seeing me.  Although I must stress not all of them some just cant afford my normal rate (?20 difference)

In september, I'm going to put my prices up, When I put my prices down, I felt cheap, had vile clients, who were looking for cheap shags, and i felt like this job was pointless, Now my prices are average, and the most of my clients, say they wouldn't care the price on the girl, if they wanted to see them, they would regardless. and have told me to put mine up!
When I venture out of aw, well keep it on the side, but not rely on it, I will up them!
Us girls shouldn't resort to lowering prices, we should feel proud!

Oh please don't put your rates down, as Sadie said then everyone will have to follow suit.  I was escorting in Oxford 10 years ago and it was ?80 then and that was for a half hour, I'd like to think things have moved on price wise since then even if there is a recession.

Since i began escorting in the days when i was busy i didnt check local escorts rates and set mine according to what seemed right. I have since reading this forum post checked and altered rates as i was charging too little and I am worth more. I also valued the feedback and made me re think. its been so dead as a dodo for me, but .. i have not had any timewasters emailing me at all. 
I may rethink if things dont change in 2 months for me.

I don't find it's a problem Lou, there are of course some guys who will attempt to touch and if they try to charm me for more during the booking then I tell them they will need to pay the half hourly rate, but there are very very few who have tried to have anything more than the BJ when thats what they booked.

I think with rates and prices it just becomes a race to the bottom once everyone feels the only way to compete is on price.
Its the same in other industries when too many (sometimes greedy) players try to take a slice of the same shrinking cake, in the end there is very little cake left for anyone!
It should be quality and level of service along with value that sells something, not just price alone to my mind...
I think if everyone starts lowering prices to compete with each other the whole industry will take a blow, it shouldn't be like that to my mind.
It should be the uniqueness of what's being offered that sells.
