Hi ladies

Never had much of any issue with my rare site in the past, but ever since uploading some of my most recent photos I've started getting error messages saying "photo file damaged please use another".

Thing is I've tried uploading other images, from my machine and from another even, from different drives too as well as ones I've previously uploaded no problem.

Is there a problem with rare at the moment? Have emailed admin but no reply yet. Very annoying when I have lots of lovely images to stick on there!

Are they Jpegs? Could be that there is some info missing in the compression coding. Try opening those images, if you can, in Photoshop or something, then 'Save As' and change the file name. Hopefully this will sort it.

I have tried uploading images that have been already on there to test this, and they still get the same message.

I've also noticed my site isn't updating either - I've altered my availability several times in the last few days, plus put in details of a special offer yet it's not appeared in my wording (although it has been submitted).

Have emailed their techies several times, but no reply. I remember this happening once before, and it took a while to sort out. If it doesn't do so in the next few days I might be forced to look elsewhere - reluctant at the moment because I've been with them a long time!

Try copying and pasting the picture into MS paint on your computer, then save it under a different and entirely new name (and make sure it's a JPEG) then try again.

If that doesn't work then try scaling down the size. You can do this by uploading it to tinypic and selecting the size you want it to be.

Thanks unfortunatley nothing I add to my rare-escort site - text, pictures or updating my availability is appearing on my site at the moment.

I had rather hoped there might have been some other ladies on here who use rare, who could advise, or at least report they are having similar problems - but nothing.

Because that site and every site in their portfolio hurt my eyeballs, and it appears to be run by a bunch of the typical "makin' a bizniz on teh interwebs oh yeah!!1" kinda cowboys. If it is indeed them that you are having problems with, I would gather my belongings and run off into the night, never to be seen again.

You can get far better webhosting run by much more professional people, and even less hideous free website builders if you're determined not to pay for anything. And with web stuff, as in any industry, there's absolutely no reason for a customer to feel loyalty to a company that has let them down. With web stuff it's even easier to find someone/something better without even having to change out of your pajamas, too - just a few clicks, bit of a browse, scan some reviews and whatnot, and bob's your uncle. No more useless pillocks.

It's been going on for over a week now. It is rare-escort BUT I've been with them for over 4 1/2 years without any major problems. I like the way I have complete control of my content under normal conditions, and clients really like my calendar facility. My other problem is the domain is registered via them, so I don't think I can walk away just like that - and the domain name is pretty crucial since it uses the 'strawberry' nick I've built around  myself.

I will start to look elsewhere BUT since I've been with them so long without issues I am reluctant to move for now.

I was temporarily suspended from my "normal" job because someone ratted out my website last weds. Since that time, I have emailed the rare-escorts every single day. I also purchased my own domain from them through 2checkout.com and I also purchased extra GB for pictures. I have been using rare-escorts.com since 2006 without many issues. My only issue was when I started a successful fan club- a company called epassporte was getting all the money and then loading it on a card. Well, the company disappeared off this planet with thousands of my dollars. My customers were also having trouble stopping their membership. But this time I have deleted all my content and everything is still up for everyone to see- so I can't go back to work. Plus, I have no access to my domain. I have been in contact with escortsite.com and they have informed me that rare-escorts.com has no active support anymore. They have no phone number, no real address, no real information. I think my only other option is to obtain legal counsel which will be very expensive but this has been well over a week and 2checkout.com has sent them emails too. Now that company just hangs up the phone on me. It's ridiculous. You can't even register with rare-escorts.com anymore, it brings up the escortsite.com banner instead. If I try to change my templates it says error. It did delete all my photos, but yes when I tried to put them back in- the site said the photos were damaged. Does anyone have any other ideas? I had my friend who builds websites for a living look at my account with my login password and said the site is effed up.

I honestly think the site has just decided to close itself.... I have contacted several lawyers to move my domain. Since I did purchase it for two years and have a great deal of time left on it. I can't even transfer it to another site without rare-escorts.com permission, and they are utterly impossible to reach. It's a bullshit company. I did call their start-up company the LX3 in new york and the man literally said I can't help you and hung up.

The thing is, you don't have *complete* control if you're currently stuffed because of them letting you down. You shouldn't have to be putting up with this at all. I appreciate your loyalty to them based on their past performance, but it looks like it's time for a reevaluation?

If I were you, I'd register a new domain name myself (something similar; if they have "strawberry.co.uk", for example, get "strawberry.com", or "strawberry-escort.com" etc; don't forget that private registration requires a .com) and get a new site set up under that domain. Get a webmaster who can install Wordpress or similar for you with a nice custom theme so you can add plugins like calendars and contact forms (and even SEO improvements) with just a few clicks. Start slowly updating your ads with your new website address - you can take your time as the old site is still up. A gradual migration like this is often the best way to manage any sort of online change as it limits the number of visitors who get confused/lost in the process.

Or you can stick around and hope those random blokes in foreign countries decide to get back to you at some point in 2012?

It's in hand, to be honest I've had so much on (which you might now have an inkling about) with things related to both work, and personal things this has just been one thing too much and I've not been able to devote much time to it (priorities and all that).
