Getting to clients hotel rooms...
« on: 25 January 2010, 10:51:38 pm »
Hi All,

Just want to say thanks for the tips so far, us new girls have what must seem like some daft questions
but they're all the ones we need help with..

Here's mine. When it's an out call how easy is it to get past the hotel reception un-noticed, or is it always
best to ask the receptionist for the guy's room number just to check the info's correct and pretend that you're
a secretary/work associate etc or is that just plain silly.

Also is it best to wear something slinky/sexy but just through a long coat over it?
I'm the sort who can never even get through customs let alone get past a reception. I must have 'that kind of face'.
Please help. Much appreciated dahlings xx

I'm sure there's a page about outcalls on the main site, have a look and make sure you follow the suggestions -
i.e, take the guys REAL name and room number, and call the hotel directly - then ask to be put through to mr suchandsuch in room whetever. If they dont want to give you the info, get your alarm bells ringing. Tell them you have to know in case you get stopped in the lobby AND you need to make your own safety check because you'll need to call the hotel, and call the room through the hotels exchange.

Getting past reception is 'All About The Confidence.'

Just imagine it's your own hotel room your going to. Dont be afraid to ask the recption where the lifts are or anything, just imagine you're going to meet your husband/boyfriend in his room. After 5 years, I've never been stopped. I always take a medium sized bag with a spare change of clothes in so that you can change in the room when you come out so they think you're staying there anyway. You dont have to, god knows they see many hundreds of people coming through the door anyway. I mainly take it because it's just more comfortable to get the tube home in!

Just dont panic. Seriously. As long as you have his name and room number, they can't do anything.

Hi Melodie,

Thanks for the advice, I think I might pop into a local large hotel soon and just do a dummy run to get
my confidence up. Ridiculous really, considering the fact that if I had legitimately booked a room I would
have no problem going in the foyer and up the lift. Maybe a dummy run is not such a bad idea.
Everything gets better with practice I suppose..your advice was great.
Thanks a bundle xx

From my own experience, the majority of larger hotels especially in London appear to have busy lobbies and you really can stride through unnoticed by receptionist to the lifts.  As part of your outcall info you could get some info on the location of the lifts and the client?s room beforehand.  A lot of the larger hotels also seem to have photos or even offer virtual tours through the hotel so you can have a look at what the public areas, especially the entrance look like and feel more comfortable.  Plus most hotel employees at reception tend to be busy and unlikely to really wonder who you are and what you are doing there if you dress smartly and not over the top ?hooker style? lol.  I found in the beginning holding and fiddling with my phone a good way of avoiding any eye contact while heading for the lifts.  Honestly, I am very recognisable with my hair and usual big grin but especially one month I was in the same Kensington hotel doing outcalls to clients a few times in the same week and no one batted an eyelid.

Hi Lulu!

I would agree with everything that's been said and would like to add that I had two outcalls FOUR HOURS apart in the same (smallish) seaside hotel the other week, when the weather was at its worst and nobody wanted to turn out  and had no problems at all  :D.

Definitely make sure you know exactly who you are going to see in case you are asked, and I personally would wear professional (as in any profession other than this one) clothing rather than skimpy stuff just in case anything happened while I was travelling, but getting in or out has never been a problem for me either and I have never been stopped yet - I even had to ring for the concierge to let me in one night when my booking was at 11.30 or something and the outside doors were locked at 11. I do think a dummy run is a good idea too.

Honey, I like the online virtual tour thing that you suggested.  Lots of hotels do that now on their sites.

When I phone my guy for my security check, at the hotel, using his name and room number, I always ask him where the lifts are in relation to the reception and which floor he is on.

I love doing hotel visits, it just seems very naughty.  Ive had no problem with reception staff, and when I was new at doing this I used to pretend I was talking on my phone while searching out the lifts etc, so that I looked busy and unapproachable.  But to be honest, this was more for my own confidence than anything else.

Have fun.

Just to add, I am currently in London staying at a rather large hotel, and when I walked in tonight with BF there was a line of bloody staff all waiting to offer assistance. It was a bit daunting as I wasn't expecting them. This seems to be a new bloody thing in providing customer service. Annoying as hell it is.

I thought in this economy, places would stop having 5 associates to help 1 able-bodied customer. I'm fine already! I lugged my luggage all the way here from the subway station, I think I can manage from the lobby to my room.

Oh, here's a scary story...hope it helps though. One time I kept calling this hotel's front desk because I was lost due to rushing out the house and not fully paying attention to where to go. Well, when I arrived the front desk guy (probably gay too) was standing right in the middle of the hallway leading to the rooms and immediately noticed me and says, "hi there, room 104 is here to your left"  :o

Luckily I was inside for like 2 hours, and when I came out the lobby was closed. Then, I had to return again the next night to the same room! Fortunently the receptionist wasn't there. So, try not to call the hotel lobby too much, they may 'escort' you to the clients room and suspect you're 'escorting' LOL

Hi Guys,

Wow that advice was great. I actually did a dummy run today and found that the access to the lifts were
virtually inside the main entrance and not a receptionist or even cleaner in sight and realised how easy it would be if I was quick and careful. The idea of the mobile phone is a good decoy, I guess people (even over observant)
employees rarely stop you if you're in the middle of a conversation..perhaps make it a business-like conversation
about deadlines/management etc and they're just going to think you're a busy annoying career girl with a deadline to meet and no time for them..

Clothes-wise I always feel most comfortable in black so I guess a nice expensive black dress with heels and good accessories would be ok. I can picture the outfit now! Many thanks for indulging my worries, you are all very
kind xx

Lulu, a wee bit of advice on clothing, dress appropriately for the time of the day. So, in your arsenal of clothing you should have a few basics, suite either pants or skirt, white shirt, conservative heels, brief case, or lap top bag, glasses. A nice designer looking handbag-largish is good too, black panty hose. Nice gala dress, sexy heels, hold up, a little evening bad, sweater. All in dark to neutral colors.
Showing up to a hotel in the middle of the day dressed like  you are going to a cocktail party is a give away. You want to look fabulous, but not noticeable.
The slutty stuff you take in your WG bag, and change in the room. Good luck.

Hi V,

Thanks for that. I would have worn my good undies under the clothes, but from what you've said,
is it better to put them on when you are at the client's room?

I have  a laptop bag - that would give me more confidence walking through the hotel.
Am I trying to get the business woman look then?

Another question - I can't do in calls, is it ok to just say you can do outcalls to an agency and
do they do the check for you at the hotel regarding ringing reception for the room number etc
or would it be wiser for me to do it anyway as a precaution in case they say they do it but don't?

Thanks xx

Wear whatever you like under your clothes, as long as you're not flashing it doesn't matter. The business look is a popular one and a perfectly good thing to aim for. Personally I wear whatever I feel like if I haven't been instructed by my client, usually casual because it cuts down on the faff. Just dress like a normal person.

I like going to hotels too and like most people I tend to wear whatever feels comfortable on top of something sexy. Much easier in winter than summer though, when it's too hot to wear a coat! But the main thing is that hotel staff don't care, in this country anyway. Even if they guess what we're up to, on what basis could they stop us? 'Excuse me madam, I think you might be going to room xxx in order to have sex with the occupant, for which you might receive a fee?'

What really pisses me off are the streams of people who walk into the room when am touring and based in an hotel. The chambermaid, the guy to stock the minibar, housekeeping x2 to check that the room has been cleaned and that the minibar has been restocked. I do try to remember to put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door, but of course it often falls off when you turn the handle to let the client into the room. I've been caught with my legs in the air  more times than I care to admit and whilst they knock, they never seem to wait for a response before opening the door. Grrr

Now you see this is where Joey and Benny could cash in. They would be discreet enough to leave things outside the door. Plus imagine the eye-candy if they take your cases upstairs and run you a bath!

Wanted to add to this -- finally something here I have (a little bit of) experience with!

I find that wearing a big dark coat and carrying a big designer bag (hobo type) is a huge help. I keep all of my stuff (thanks to those that posted their "bag lists" in the big bag, and wear a long trench that hides all of my clothes. Hope this helps!
